We have established a Student Volunteer Program which caters to O/Matric and A/Intermediate level students who spend one week at the hospital visiting patients in different wards and OPD’s. The students interact with the young patients and are amazed at the resilience of these people, who although come from extremely impoverished backgrounds, have immense hope in the hospital and its staff. This program serves as an eye-opener and a life experience for the students who generally hail from privileged backgrounds. More than 2000 students have rotated through this program so far.
